October Newsletter
Good day everyone!
I am pleased to announce that Dr. Monika Havelka from the University of Toronto will be joining us yet again on Monday, November 5th, 2012. She will be discussing abiogenesis the origins of life. Dr. Havelka’s usual interesting and fun presentations are always educational and entertaining. We have experience her delightful delivery of topics from evo-devo (hox genes) through reproduction (why sex?) to aging (is death preventable?). This coming month we will go back to the start of all life on earth and see what modern biology has to say on the subject.
We will be eating at McReiley’s Pub on Dunlop St just after 5PM. I’ll be parking at the Library and walking down to the pub. We welcome any member and guest to join us.

Potluck & AGM:
We are excited to confirm that December 2nd in the early afternoon we will be having our Pot Luck and AGM. We are looking for people who want to help us in 2013. Assuming the world does not end between our AGM and New Years Day, we would love anyone who wants to help with meeting room setup, to have meetings to come up with presentation ideas and guest speaker ideas, people who want to be the treasurer, membership secretary, note taker during meeting, vice-president or president. Please email me for details. It is not a big time commitment, but is absolutely needed for our organization. (Some of these position will be elected at the AGM.)
More details to follow about the election and the AGM.
December’s meeting is postponed. After Monika’s November presentation we will have the AGM/Lunch, and then meet in January (Schedule to come).
